11 Pet Friendly Plants
Updated: Mar 9, 2022
Looking for houseplants that you can be sure won't make any of your fur or human babies sick ? This is the list for you! Live near Boulder, Colorado? Check out my pet-friendly plant packages and let me do all the work to green your space!
We are big fans of fur babies here at Petals and currently have two feline assistants who manage to get into nearly everything on the farm. In the winter in particular they find our indoor and greenhouse plants a bit more interesting since their outdoor playground is brown and frozen over.
As professional growers we do keep a variety of plant babies around the farm, both toxic and non-toxic, and our cats and children have run of the place. While our human babies have ceased to put everything they can reach into their mouths, our kitties still like to nibble here and there on the inventory. That stated, we grow a lot of plants that are considered toxic to pets and have never had any issues beyond a few extra hairballs and a chewed up leaf here and there.
I am NOT a human or animal doctor...actually I'm a doctor of history so the only things I'm technically trained to comment on are, by definition, dead. That stated: It is my personal opinion that most cats will naturally stay away from eating things that make them sick...dogs on the other hand...I wouldn't trust them not to lick a porcupine. But I don't have dogs, so what do I know.
